A herbal mix prepared by the family will be stuffed in the mouth of a murrel fingerling and slipped through the throat of asthma patients. For vegetarians, the prasadam will be administered without the fish. Every year, thousands of asthma patiensts take this prasadam.
However, in a significant deviation from the 163-year-old tradition, Mr Bathini Harinath Goud said that the prasadam needs to be taken for four consecutive years.
For the past 163 years, the family had been stating that asthma patients and others with breath-related disorders need to take the prasadam for three consecutive years.
“We have got feedbacks from our patients and have come to the conclusion that this prasadam needs to be taken for four consecutive years on the occasion of Mrigasira Karti,” Mr Harinath Goud said.
He also cautioned that some unscrupulous elements were claiming to be from the Bathini Goud family and offering the prasadam by collecting a huge amount of money. Mr Harinath Goud asked people to be cautious of such frauds.
